I love the song Memories by Maroon 5. Every time I hear it, I picture myself standing on the deck of a large cruise ship with my loved one. We’re holding cocktails, smiling, the soft breeze playing with our hair. As the music drifts through the air, we talk endlessly—cherishing every moment.
A Song, A Memory
Some songs are more than just melodies.
They transport us—
To places we’ve never been,
Yet somehow feel like home.
When I hear Memories,
I see myself on that cruise deck.
And every time it plays, I say,
“One day, I’ll listen to this song on a cruise deck.”
Now, my family calls Memories
“Mommy’s Cruise Song.”
The evening is warm.
A gentle breeze brushes against my skin,
Carrying the scent of the ocean.
In one hand, a cocktail.
By my side, someone I love.
We smile as the wind dances through our hair.
We talk—
Endlessly. Effortlessly.
Sharing stories.
Reliving old times.
Savoring the past and the present.
I remember faded photographs of friends.
Some I’ve lost contact with.
Some have moved on to another world.
Memories come rushing back—
Trekking through mountains for four days.
Playing volleyball on the beach.
Sleepless nights spent studying or working on projects.
An overnight journey aboard a ship.
A week-long backpacking trip with ten friends, carrying our tents.
Beautiful beaches.
Reaching the peak of Hallasan Mountain.
Flights to unknown places.
Tents pitched under the open sky.
To all of you—wherever you are now—
I send my regards.
No rush. No worries.
Just us, the sea, and our memories.
A single song can take us far away—
Or bring us back to moments
